Water Management Project within the Company

Environmental
“Water Recycling System for Train Washing Plants” Project

BEM has made efforts to minimize the use of water resources and the release of wastewater from the system into the environment by recycling wastewater from the train washing process for reuse within the system. Since more than 5,000 m3 of water is required in the train cleaning process each year, measures have been implemented to reuse wastewater from the Train Washing Plants in train washing activities. These automatic Train Washing Plants are located at the three Depots of the MRT Purple Line and MRT Blue Line: Khlong Bang Phai Depot, Rama 9 Depot, and Kallapaphruek Depot. As a result, water consumption decreased by 4,368 m3 per year, accounting for 75% of the total water consumed in train washing, which reflects the effectiveness of the Company’s water conservation measures and the mitigation of operational environmental impacts.

“Rainwater Harvesting for Reuse” Project

BEM is committed to efficient water resource management, reducing water consumption and minimizing wastewater discharge into the environment. Therefore, the Company has installed storage tanks to harvest rainwater and air conditioning condensation (cooling water) around the Administration and Canteen buildings at the Kallapaphruek Depot (MRT Blue Line) to replace the use of tap water consumption for lawns and plant irrigation. Currently, the Company has installed four 1,000-liter water storage tanks at the Kallapaphruek Depot parking building, successfully reducing water consumption by 4,000 liters per year.

In addition, in 2026, BEM plans to install additional water storage tanks to cover all remaining building areas. This expansion aims to enhance water recycling efficiency and further demonstrates the Company's steadfast commitment to sustainable and efficient water resource management.
