Bridge Crossing the “Bangkok Noi” Conservation Canal

The Prachim Ratthaya Expressway (Si Rat - Bangkok Outer Ring Road) is an expressway project constructed in the format of six elevated traffic lanes, covering a distance of 17 km. The construction is based on international standards in terms of structure and engineering, according to the American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials. The construction of the mainline employed the Segmental Box Gider technology, which is a modem method of assembling prefabricated segments and creates minimal impact on ground traffic.

BEM is aware of the issue of environmental conservation upon carrying out construction in the conservation area of "Bangkok Noi Canal". Therefore, the Company has leveraged the Balanced Cantilever technology to construct a bridge across the canal. This is popular technology for building long-span bridges that help reduce the number of piers in rivers and canals. Based on this technique, there are no piers in the Bangkok Noi Canal, which efficiently reduces impacts in terms of natural water flow obstruction and disturbance to the aquatic ecosystem during the operation period.
